The Manufacturing Process of a Natural Slate Billiard Table

The manufacturing process of a natural slate billiard table (also called a slate billiard table) is a systematic project combining quarrying and processing, precision machining, woodworking, leveling, and professional assembly. A high-quality table typically requires multiple meticulous processes to complete.

I. Natural Slate Quarrying and Selection The first step in manufacturing is selecting the slate.

Slate is quarried from natural mines.

High-quality stone with a dense structure and no cracks is selected.

Slabs containing impurities or with uneven internal structures are removed.

II. Slate Cutting and Preliminary Processing After quarrying, the large slate slabs go to the processing plant:

They are cut into standard sizes using large cutting machines.

They are usually divided into 3 or 5 pieces (for easy transportation and installation).

The thickness is generally controlled to be above 25mm.

III. Precision Grinding and Leveling (Core Process) This is the most crucial step.

The surface is repeatedly polished using a high-precision grinder. Flatness error is checked (typically requiring extremely low precision). Each slab of stone is leveled.

IV. Wooden Frame Construction: The slabs are merely the "tabletop" and require structural support: The outer frame is constructed using solid wood or composite hardwood. Crossbeams are installed to reinforce the load-bearing capacity. The table legs are designed for adjustable leveling.

V. Slab Installation and Assembly: The slabs are fixed to the frame: Multiple slabs are precisely assembled using bolts. Joints are filled with a special material.

VI. Overall Leveling (Determining Success): After installation, the entire table is leveled: A professional level is used for inspection. Each support point is fine-tuned to ensure the entire table is level. Surface must be absolutely level.

VII. Laying the Tablecloth: Cover the table with high-density wool fabric. Tighten and secure to prevent wrinkles. Maintain consistent fabric tension.

VIII. Installing the Cushions (Rubber Edges): Install a cushion system around the table. The interior is made of high-elasticity rubber. The outer layer is wrapped with a wooden frame and fabric. Adjust the bounce angle.

IX. Installing the Pocket System: Install six pockets. Use leather or synthetic mesh pockets. Adjust the pocket angle.

X. Final Calibration and Testing: After completion, the following tests must be performed: Roll ball test (whether the line is off-center) Rebound test (whether the cushions are consistent) Pocket test (whether the angle is standard)
